Week two! This one is about how the game feels. Combat got a ground-up feel overhaul with weapon trails, measured slash arcs, and gem-colored hits. Creator-made abilities went end to end: author them in the Forge, sell them on the Marketplace, learn them from a gem. Quests became authorable and shareable, achievements arrived, and the whole player menu was rebuilt.
Build week: July 10 to 17, 2026. Also inside: a rebuilt chat with item linking, a smarter world browser and Weave, cinematic new loading screens, and a mountain of performance and stability work.
Combat Feel
- A full combat feel pass, iterated seventeen times against live playtests. Floating damage numbers, per-severity camera shake and FOV punch, a subtle hitstop on connect, weapon swing trails that ride the actual blade (custom-forged weapons included), and slash arcs measured from your real swing, so horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and jump attacks all read correctly.
- Gem-colored combat. Slash arcs and hit bursts now tint to the first gem socketed in your weapon: ruby red, sapphire teal, amethyst purple, and so on. No gem swings clean steel.
- Crits are real now. A rebuilt central damage pipeline adds critical rolls, dodge and block avoidance, and soft-capped stat stacking. Crits land with gold "!" damage numbers and a heavier screen kick.
- Know where it came from. A directional damage indicator points at whoever hit you and keeps tracking as you turn the camera.
- PvP feedback fixed. Victims and spectators now see and feel hits; previously all hit feedback was skipped whenever the attack came from another player's machine.
- Feel bugs squashed. Fixed the lockout where spamming attack near a wall could strand you unable to swing until you jumped, and the animation pop when attacking near collision. Light weapons now flinch enemies instead of launching them.
Skills
- Skill roster v2. 23 legacy skills retired (points refunded automatically), 14 reworked with straight names and real values, and 12 brand-new skills including Deadeye, Crushing Blows, Cold Snap, Thornhide, and Stone Skin.
- Skills now live in the database and are minted at runtime, so new skills and balance changes go live without a game patch. (How progression works: The Skill Nebula.)
Abilities and the Forge
- Author real abilities in the Forge. Targeting shapes, marked conditions, healing, and typed projectiles, plus ability scaling with Essence costs so power has a price. (What the Forge is: The Forge.)
- Make them look right. A role-aware ability VFX library with authorable presentation stages: cast, windup, travel, impact.
- Share them. Publish abilities to the Marketplace; players learn them through the new Ability Codex, and claimed ability gems drop into the world as physical pickups. Edits and remixes are now properly separated, and only the owning account can edit an ability.
Quests and Achievements
- Quest authoring arrived in the Forge, then got a same-week overhaul: searchable NPC and item pickers with portraits for objectives and rewards, quest cover images, precise per-field validation, and a searchable list of your quests.
- Share quests too. Publish quests to the Marketplace and install them into worlds through the Codex.
- Merlin knows your quests. Quest chips in the logic editor now offer a dropdown of the world's installed quests by name instead of asking for a raw ID.
- Achievements are live. Account-wide achievement progression with a catalog in the player menu, unlock toasts as you play, and a gold center-screen banner with its own stinger when you finish a whole category.
Worlds, the Weave, and Loading Screens
- Realm shelf overhaul. Art-forward world cards with LIVE chips and adventurer counts, dormant realms resting "Beyond the Arche" that wake on hover, a Core/Community filter, and real sorts: Trending, Live Now, Most Adventurers, Most Played. (How worlds work: Worlds & the Weave.)
- A smarter Weave. Spin-ups now wait until the realm actually accepts logins (no more "world has not finished loading" bounces), show true block-load progress, use friendly region names, and offer a countdown with cancel. Worlds that are already live skip the Weave and open instantly.
- Edit World pane rework. Scrollable member management, Draft vs Live world contents, and editable world descriptions and tags.
- Loading screens went cinematic. All-new world key art (twelve Elysara locations plus a true-to-life Vireon), a rotating rune-ring progress seal, digital glyph rain, per-world accent colors, and a five-stage journey stepper.

Player Menu V2
- The player menu was rebuilt. Inventory, quests, and achievements in one high-fidelity screen with all-new stock item art, rarity markers, and a live character preview that idles, frames your whole hero, and rotates when you drag it.
- Custom forged items now show their real icons, with a fallback while a thumbnail is still baking.
- Bags grew to 300 slots.

Creator Tools: Merlin
- Live Pulse. The configure modal now shows recent trigger fires and live counter values for every placed card, so you can see whether your logic ran instead of guessing from silence. (New here? What is Merlin?)
- Transmission. A new story-dialogue overlay action for authored narrative moments, delivered center-screen.
- World rules are durable. Merlin world rules now persist server-side, so they survive redeploys, run on dedicated servers, and carry into forked worlds.
- Quality of life everywhere: one-chip Units In Area, pointer-drag reordering, plain-word comparisons, tooltips and contextual help across the editor, and a restyled Announce banner. The grimoire tab now only appears for people with Merlin rights in that world.
- Fixed a crash when a wave card spawned NPCs into its own trigger volume.
Codex
- Visual tooltips and contextual info across the whole browser, quest card art, compact cards, and world quest management. Fixed world NPCs missing from "This World" right after joining. (What the Codex is: The Codex.)
Chat and Social
- Chat rebuilt around scopes. Tabs per channel with colored tags and unread badges, an All view that blends streams, and slash commands that behave: /party, /world, /acceptinvite, /declineinvite.
- Link items in chat. Ctrl+click an inventory item to drop a chip into the composer, rarity color and icon included. Anyone can click the chip to inspect the item.
- Forming a party mid-session now activates XP sharing immediately instead of waiting for a relog.
Launcher
- Launcher v0.8.20: a Patch Notes button that opens this very page, honest download ETAs (no more frozen timers or "3m 60s"), remembered channel selection, and fully isolated Dev and Prod installs.
Under the Hood
- Performance: custom 3D models now load with runtime mips, a 2K texture cap, and a persistent disk cache so repeat visits skip re-downloading; a texture resolution pass across environment packs; the world map now streams virtually and only pays for what is on screen; menu-video memory fixes; heavy Elysara optimizations.
- Stability: fixed AI behavior-tree crashes outside gameplay worlds, a placement math crash, cursor loss after Alt-Tab, and goblin scouts and brutes wearing the wrong skin. AFK disconnects now explain themselves with an acknowledge prompt instead of a silent kick to menu.
- Backend: complete Dev/Prod stream isolation across login, worlds, and services; one-command production releases with immutable bundles that bind each game build to its backend versions; spawn points and claim limits are now world-scoped; profanity filtering on account and character names; and the in-game bug reporter now attaches screenshots, clips, and server logs.
- Groundwork: server-authoritative block destruction (debris, camera shake, charred damage tint) landed behind a dev switch while we tune it.
- AI pipelines: Loom generation is now staged, with concept and rig review gates, remix, and per-step Essentia costs, so you approve each step before spending more.
